New legislation introduced on Sunday 6th April will allow businesses to write-off up to £50,000 of plant and machinery purchases (including IT) against that year's taxable profits. The new Annual Investment Allowance is designed to encourage small businesses to invest in new technology and equipment and help them compete in an increasingly tough environment.

According to a recent survey of retailers from research firm Martec, any technology investment is likely to concentrate on in-store technologies. 81 per cent of those interviewed said that in-store systems were a priority, making it the most important area of IT spending in retail.

And with increasing demand from consumers to have chip-and-pin access in-store even in small shops, several businesses may take this opportunity to invest in a complete Electronic Point of Sale solution and touch screen till. Investing in EPoS solutions, like AccuPOS 2008, removes the day-to-day headaches of running your business by providing easy control of inventory, fast access to customer information and the ability to automatically update your accounts programme.

"Investing in in-store technologies can have a significant impact on your bottom line. Many small businesses find they spend more time in the back-office doing accounts and taking inventory than doing what they love, selling their product or service", said El-Azar Levy, European Manager of AccuPOS UK. "EPoS solutions are a great time-saver and productivity booster, allowing business owners to focus on important areas such as customer service, and taking their company forward".

Latest AccuPOS Software Makes EPOS ‘Special of the Day’ for today’s hospitality industry

Fully Integrated Front of the House Electronic Point Sale System runs on standard PC, solving customer service headaches

London, UK, 12 February- AccuPOS UK today launched AccuPOS 2008, the latest version of the award winning EPOS solution for small-to-medium sized retailers and is available to buy now from AccuPOS UK.  Based on extensive customer feedback, this popular electronic point of sale PC software includes many new and easy-to-use features specifically designed for running a restaurant,, bar or other hospitality industry.

El-Azar Levy, European Manager of AccuPOS UK comments: “AccuPOS 2008 includes a wealth of new customer-driven features and improvements that simplify and speed up the completion of every day tasks.  These enhancements have been developed to help restaurant and bar owners to deliver great service that will keep customers coming back time and time again.”

AccuPOS 2008 is fully compatible with all popular accounting programmes, including the latest 2008 release of the popular Quickbooks accounting software, Sage 50 Accounts and Peachtree by Sage.  Automatically saving sales and customer information collected at the point of sale into the accounting software, this unique tool removes the burden of having to re-enter the data and the errors that can naturally occur.  This latest version also notifies you via e-mail if the transaction fails to update, allowing the problem to be resolved immediately.

Designed with the customer in mind, AccuPOS 2008 provides a range of new functions that allow businesses to deliver great customer service during even the busiest times.  When entering orders, servers can now assign seats to items on a floor plan that exactly matches the layout of the establishment, removing the need to memorise table numbers and the risk of patrons being given the wrong order.

Aware that customer service can make or break an establishment, AccuPOS 2008 includes a training module that both new and current employees can use to learn new systems and processes.
The software also lets you set additional rules for how you want to manage specific customer accounts, for example automatic discounts for preferred customers who regularly visit the establishment.

AccuPOS 2008 also allows specials to be quickly and easily added to the point of sale menu and assigned a stock value.  Once that meal is out of stock, servers are made aware and can remove the item from the menu avoiding any customer confusion.

Communication between the front of house and preparation area has also been improved. The software allows  servers to easily indicate when food is ready to “fire” and even whether it is to eat-in or takeaway.
